I apologize for all of the generic posts lately. Its been a busy week. Is it Thursday already? WHAT! Its the second day of October?
(Happy birthday Connor)
So here's what happened. Several weeks ago David was at the State Archives to do research.Just outside the archives was our parked Jeep Cherokee. Driving down the street was an elderly man who had forgotten to take his medicine that morning. The elderly man went into a diabetic coma and struck the side of the jeep. According to a bystander he came to, reversed his car, blacked out again, struck it a second time, then reversed again hitting another car before the bystander thought "Hmmm...maybe I need to intervene and stop this man."
Thankfully no one was hurt. The damage to our Jeep wasn't even that bad. David drove it back home. The damage was to the passenger side door, but you could open and close it even!
A couple of weeks after this incident an appraiser from this mans insurance company came out and looked at the damage. Apparently it was severe enough to "Total" the vehicle. They compensated us well for the "time loss" and damage done to our Jeep and we are able to upgrade our next vehicle a little bit.
Here comes the inconvenient part.
Our bank holds insurance checks until they clear so we've had to stall on the process a bit until the money comes through our bank. Which is frustrating because we had hoped to be able to go look and test drive cars before they came for our Jeep. The money came into today and they came and picked up our Jeep today. We have not bought another vehicle yet. So now we have to rent a car until we find a replacement.
Craigslist is a wonderful thing. Its where we bought our Jeep. So that's where we turned once again to find its replacement. We are looking at a couple of options.
This one being my favorite

Its a 2000 Land Rover Discovery. Apparently from looking at this picture it is also capable of out running lightning! Awesome! Being that it is Thursday, should we purchase this car tomorrow, it will still be Monday, maybe Tuesday before we can get it tagged and titled etc. So we still have a long road of inconvenience, paper work, and haggling ahead of us the next few days. Yuck! Stay tuned though. I'll post pictures of whatever we find as soon as I can!
