Tonight when David got home he had to rewire his guitar and prepare it for rehearsal at church tonight, for playing Sunday morning. Elle-Girl took an interest in what her daddy was doing and so he let her stand beside him as he explained each step. She took in every thing from the removal process to the hammering in of the bridge. She even got to help with that part by holding the tiny hammer herself and taking a couple of whacks! What fun!
There were many trips to the back room, Daddy's work room, for tools and strings and odd sounding wrenches and pins. All of which she got to follow along for. The back room is typically off limits so Miss Elle felt very important getting to help daddy with this "major project".
It wasn't long before the old strings were removed and the new once strung through, and with a "Ta-Da", the Project was over.
David began to pack up his pedal case and zip up his guitar. He did not notice little Elle-Girl who was now trying to slide her small feet into Mommy's shoes left by the door. He went back and forth throughout the house looking for a guitar pick, lacing up his big work boots, and slipping his keys in his pocket, still unaware of Elle-Girl frantically trying to get Mommy's shoes just so on her feet. As he headed for the door Elle-Girl gave up on trying to put her foot in the shoe and picked up the shoes, tucked them under her arm and stumbled toward her Daddy as if to say "I'm going with you!"
David explained that she needed to stay home with Mommy but when she got a little older she could ride with Daddy and help him carry his gear to rehearsals.
He was met with a small little pout and a down cast look in which promptly led him to give her staying up privileges until he got back home.
I look forward to the Daddy Daughter dates to come and to see the bond that will undoubtedly continue to build between these two.

It's wonderful to see how special little girls feel when included in their dad's business! Daddy/Daughter dates are awesome! Kyleigh and Chris have a favorite date spot of a lil' arcade w/ SkiBall! She knows how to put in her token, push the start button, roll the ball (though it doesn't always reach the achieved goal!) and even collect her tickets at the end! She mostly just likes doing WHATEVER Daddy is doing though...be it yard work (see recent blog pics from Thxgiving-now!) or grocery shopping or anything really! I smiled at the part about "staying up privileges"...Kyleigh tries to stay up and wait on Chris the nights he works late! LOL She thinks she just HAS to see him before she can call it a night, but usually ends up falling asleep waiting! Luv your stories, your little family is precious! Haven't seen you since the Kazsuk's wedding, we should get together w/ the girls (and Josiah)!
I'd love to.
Maybe after the holidays?
May I please have your address to include your family in our last-minute Chritmas card list? I used to be organized enough to have such things prepared by early Nov. at the latest...now w/ babies (as you know), they grow and change in a short time, so we wait til the last second to take a family photo! Ours are scheduled for this Wed, and if a decent pic is derived from that appt, we'll have cards or a letter to send out soon after! LOL You can msg me on myspace if you want...thanks!
